Mangapapa Station

Located just over an hour from Whanganui and around 1.5 hours from Hawera, Mangapapa Station is a remote, family-owned 3,500ha property in the Waitotara Valley. With over 1,000ha of native bush, along with open hill country, ridgelines and valleys, there is plenty of ground to explore. A 10km+ farm laneway provides 4WD access, with additional tracks suitable for quads, ATVs and SxS vehicles. Quads are also available to hire by prior arrangement, subject to availability (refer to Farm Rules). The property holds good numbers of Fallow Deer, as well as goats, hares, rabbits, peacocks and possums. Pig hunting is not permitted, and bucks are to be left alone. Please refer to Farm Rules around limitations. Several accommodation options are available, from basic accommodation included in the daily rate through to more comfortable options at an additional cost. A chiller is also available at the homestead for hunters to store meat. Hunting is available weekends only, with one group booked at a time. Hunters are welcome to arrive Friday afternoon and stay until Monday morning. Hunting is also permitted on public holidays where the date is available on the calendar. Lambing block-out: 1 August – 15 October annually. Please note: Cell coverage is limited, with around 90% of the property having no reception. Hunters are strongly encouraged to carry a PLB or suitable emergency communication device.
